Welcome to Memory Town, a unique collection of new songs from a master storyteller. Colin takes the big and small moments of ordinary people in the ordinary places around us and crafts them into vivid musical stories. At times inspiring, moving, funny and sad, Memory Town is a musical stroll of discovery into places hiding in plain view, the lost and found, gems that, with a songwriter’s keen eye and turn of phrase, sparkle into view.

Top Ten single, What I Love About Country is an exuberant celebration of the magical moments when lyric and life combine. Little Barefoot Millie sings the compelling story of a little lost girl whose story Colin heard on a radio news bulletin. Remember For Me is a tender observation of dementia’s inching invasion into the life of a couple Colin met while selling a desk on Gumtree. Kitchen Table draws us to treasure lives entwined over old timber and shared meals. A drive to Broken Hill transforms Laura and Gisele; dogged determination singes your eyebrows in The Bush Comes Back; Stick Together is a vulnerable, moving anthem Colin’s daughter’s asked him to sing at her wedding.

Fellow storyteller Michael Waugh shares vocal duties on what could be called a bush psalm - Sing Me The Land. Shanley Del duets with Colin on In Busselton Today, a song Colin wrote about Shanley’s husband, WA-born James Gillard (whose backing vocals feature across the whole record.)

Like a far flung village on the western plains, Colin Buchanan’s Memory Town has a quiet, powerful presence. It’s an album that will reward the time spent walking its streets, meeting the locals, passing the time. There are special moments waiting patiently for you. It’s a reminder that the best songs tell us our own story through the stories of others.

Memory Town was produced by the remarkable Matt Fell and features the combined vocal and instrumental talents of some of Australia’s finest musicians including Josh Schubert, Rod McCormack, Katie Brianna, Clare O’Meara, Jed Hughes, Bill Risby and James Gillard.
